xxxxamss!

What was the thing that haunted me the most when i was in the school?.The answer to that no doubt would be my principal. But still i could avoid the stares of my principal in a school that was hugely populated. There was a thing that never left my back or whose stares i never could have avoided and those were exams!Sometimes i think why this system of exams was initially designed? was it to test the misery of the students or to distinguish between the "so called bright guys" and the "dull ones".I still do not understand. In my opinion ,there is a limit towards everything in life, exams being the only exception. When it comes to exams it tends to suck all the joy and happiness from a student life just like a "dementor".
Before the start of the examination, students are seen clutching their text books deeply engrossed in the last minute "Look Through".A quick look at the watch,a sigh of despair followed by resumption of twelfth hour of studies. The predominant thought is-"So much to do,yet so little done"!and its time to begin.
The examination center is a desert of students-devoid of cheerfulness and mirth.Just before pens start its work,a look at one`s friend,a slight nod confirming mutual agreement,a small prayer even gesture to the Almighty-all these are a common sight.
With the question paper in the hand most candidates are immovable.A quick look at the paper and then the minute examination of each question. Some are busy ticking off questions that will be attempted.
One can also observe various facial expressions once the exam kick starts. Some sit dejected, gazing at the question paper with an air of despair. Some look at each other or try to communicate with their friends in the hope of some answers.I fell in that category. But trust me from my experience hope leads to disappointment quite often. Then there are the bright ones,`nerds`,i would like to call them.God!they write so much, nearly three times of what i used to!But there is one thing that is common at the examination center-silence!
If i had to conclude,i would say Examination brings delight to some, happiness to most and frustration to few including me.Truly, examination is a congragation of a galaxy of thoughts, expressions and emotions.

  5. Dear Sayan,

Nice blogpost. I totally agree with you. Examinations are a big pain. I hated the students in my class who were always prepared for tests. Reading your article flooded me with school and college memories and all sorts of things we did to get that extra 5 or 10 marks (everything except studying harder!) I remember asking a friend of mine once in college to come and sit beside me (just in case). He was not inclined to do that. Realising why, I asked him to bring along his friend(s) whoever would be helping him (the more the merrier'). With a confused look he said " how do I bring the wall with me?" :D

Then there were those who always had long conversations with God before exams, convincing the old chap that THIS time is the last. Please help me and NEXT time you will have no complaints.... And that contract went on from nursery to masters!!!!

I wonder which I hated most, exams or results. Will ponder on that one later :)

Well what do I say? This is just one of those perils of growing up with which you have to live with. Sometimes I wish I was born before the era of examinations (long loooooooong ago!!)

Lovely article once again.Keep writing and keep informing.

    Best,

    Baishali
